For most clubs, third place in their domestic league with 58 goals scored in 24 games, and a 3-1 win in the first leg of their round of 16 Champions League tie would constitute an impressive season so far.

For Spanish super club Real Madrid however this campaign has been slightly disappointing, and the fact that they currently find themselves 14 points behind their eternal rivals Barcelona is bordering on unforgivable.

With that in mind it is unsurprising that manager Zinedine Zidane is in the market for a superstar player in the summer, especially with Gareth Bale struggling through injury and Karim Benzema in poor form.

Raheem Sterling is the new name at the top of Los Blancos’ shopping list, according to the Guardian, and the Manchester City star would certainly be an intriguing addition to Real’s squad.

The England international has registered a hugely impressive 15 goals and six assists in the Premier League this season, and has improved massively under the tutelage of the legendary Pep Guardiola.

Sterling is behind only Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Sergio Aguero in terms of goals scored, and has finally managed to cement his place as a vital player for Manchester City in his third season with the club.
