It is difficult to tell sometimes whether 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester City have done well to hold on to their talismanic winger Riyad Mahrez, or whether the Algerian simply isn’t as highly valued as many seem to believe.
That question seems to have been answered with today’s transfer rumours however as league leaders Manchester City are reportedly ready to offer the Algerian international another shot at a Premier League title, according to ESPN.
The Citizens current sit at the top of the league after 12 games, eight points clear of their nearest rivals Manchester United. Pep Guardiola’s side have scored 40 times already in this campaign and are clearly interested in adding some further fire power to their devastating forward line.
Mahrez meanwhile has registered two goals and four assists for the season so far, and during the Foxes’ title winning campaign he bagged a remarkable 17 goals and 11 assists. It was somewhat surprising that the winger didn’t leave the club following the unlikely success, especially as another of Leicester’s crucial players N’Golo Kante earned himself a move to Chelsea.
However the Algerian’s continued exploits at the club have earned him a lot of respect around the footballing world, and a move to Manchester could be the perfect way for the 26-year old to accelerate his career.
