Manchester City have been one of the more active teams within the transfer rumour mill of recent weeks, though they have mostly been concerned with fullbacks following the injury to Benjamin Mendy. This week however, according to ESPN, the Citizens have been linked with a forward in the form of Schalke youngster Breel Embolo.
Unfortunately the 20-year old had his first campaign in Germany derailed by a severe ankle injury, following his €20m move from Basel. The Swiss international has returned to action this season however and is looking to return to the form he showed at Basel.
Despite his lack of action the youngster’s talent has caught the eye of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who is interested in acquiring the forward and has instructed his scouts to keep an eye on his development.
Embolo will undoubtedly have to force his way back into the Schalke team and register some impressive performances if he is to earn himself a move to Manchester, but there is little doubt of his talent.
The forward has the perfect blend of strength, explosiveness and pace to make him a success in the Premier League, and he is a composed enough finisher that he could make an excellent addition to Guardiola’s City team.
